Horses as Visitors

If you are a farmstay visitor, you can bring your horse(s), and ride our trails and local country lanes. It is also just short hop by trailer to many acres of beautiful state land and trails (within 15-20 minutes). These facilities are not available to horse-owners living or visiting elsewhere.

Housing

We have two, 12x12 box stalls built for drafters. The flooring in the barn is rubber (recycled tires).

You may purchase bedding and hay locally, or bring them with you. You are responsible for caring for your horses, maintaining their stalls, and for leaving them clean at the end of your visit.

The pasture is about 3 acres. Pastured horses have access to a 12x18 run-in shed (it is big enough to shelter our three drafters in the winter). The pasture fencing is three-strand, high-visibility, white electric rope.

You will be responsible for caring for your horses. If they need more than grass, you may purchase feed locally, or bring it with you. We do not combine horses from different groups in the pasture - so it is available on a first come basis.

We use these fees to vaccinate our horses against everything that we can think of that a visitor might accidentally bring in, and to pay for an extra de-worming at the end of the season.

Health Requirements

You must provide health information in advance. For the sake of our horses, you must have a current (less than 6-month), negative Coggins test and documentation to show that your horses are protected from influenza, rhinovirus and strangles. For the sake of your horses, you should also have the following vaccinations: tetanus, sleeping sickness, west nile and rabies.

NOTE: Horses that appear to pose a danger will not be accepted.
